2009 unemployment federal tax
Unemployment for federal and state taxes in New York again?

I heard the first $ 2,400 is not taxable? Is that correct? I'm doing my 1040 and have 2 questions: 1. I just received my 1099 for my unemployment compensation for 2009 is $ 13,999 and declared a federal wilderness is: $ 1,399. when I make my 1040, I put my $ 13,999 as income or unemployment report $ 11,599 ($ 13,999 – $ 2,400), 2. How can I do the same for my income tax in New York State also $ 13,999 or $ 11,599? nothing was declared void by my state of New York of my unemployment. ps i also work part time and had an income of about $ 21,000 around $ 2950 and declared a federal wilderness. does this effect my unemployment compensation reported on my 1040 and the presentation of the state? Best answer get 10 points. Thank you.

1. You what the report of 1099 shows, minus $ 2,400, so $ 11,599. 2. New York State continues to exemption from $ 2,400 Federal himself to report the same amount in its statement of upstate New York. See this link: http://www.labor.state.ny.us/ui/claimantinfo/onceyouhaveappliedfaq.shtm # 22 Any other income which adds unemployment to its liabilities. Your tax liability will be based on their total income from all sources, less deductions and exemptions allowed. This is the same for state and federal.
