employment acts and regulations

Canada, BC asks: Does the employer have to pay for a minimum of 2 hours, if a person is fired?
If you arrive at work as its supposed and when you get there your boss tells you should be dismissed because of new and more experienced, people have been hired, they are supposed to pay for a minimum of 2 hours described in the Guidelines for Interpretation Manual Employment Standards in British Columbia Act and Regulations (found here @ http://www.labour.gov.bc.ca/esb/igm/esa-part-4/ igm-that-s-34.htm) I just called the board and said yes you have to. since he wasn't scheduled to work for more than 8 hours, is only 2 hours that must be paid compared to 4 hours that comes with being scheduled for more than 8 hours.
I could have said that the answer was yes.
