employment staggers through Mississippi recession If recession is easing its control over Mississippi, the employment figures are doing a good job of hiding it. Last month, the state was only 64,900 nonfarm jobs in June 2008 – just before the start of the economic crisis – with the construction and manufacturing suffering the consequences of the loss.
