employment first initiative

In search of work, it is best to call or walk-in?
As a personal trainer, I have a list of places you want to find work. I know what that times are good to call or visit, but I'm not sure what that managers prefer more. Do you like when people call to see if a place is available and arrange an interview or would like people walking in the cause shows initiative. I'd love to hear from people who have experience in recruitment. Thanks in advance.
Well, I can say from my own experience with interviewees – depends if I'm looking for someone or not. If I'm looking for someone to fill a position and take the time to go and ask (prepared w / curriculum vitae, properly dressed) to be interviewed on the spot, and who knows you might end up with a new employee below.
