Alternatively, contact the owners of advertising in local newspapers and ask them if they will accept HB. When you get yourself settled in a property make sure your demand is the time unless you can end up in arrears before starting. Also, be sure to inform, both the owner and the department of HB when you find work and stop HB. Otherwise you may end up with a reimbursement overpayment of housing. One more thing, if you are claiming JSA at the time you can claim HB extended when finding work if you have signed continuously for the past 26 weeks. This extended HB lasts four weeks.
