employment termination laws

California point of termination. I have a friend who had just ended after 2-1/2 years of work?
with a company. This was employment agreement at will – but no reason was given for the termination and was completely of the United Nations expected. Does anyone know where to get information on the law covering this kind of action – or you could have grounds to file a wrongful dismissal Suite? I'm curious now – I just used Wikipedia and the quest employment at will. They say California is one of 11 states that have a covenant of good faith and fair dealing exceptions – AKA – implied in contracts law. From my reading of this means Termination for other reasons of malice or unfair may be illegal. Done here has someone who really knows?
California is a "State", as which means you can be fired for any reason at any time, or for no reason at all …. unless there are established procedures in the company, or a employment contract, or if you suspect discrimination or other illegal activities. Your friend is probably out of luck. Focusing on a new job first. Then returns to this theme at a later date. I think you have one year to sue her boss for discrimination.
