As Judge B-schools with reference to the ISB, IIM and MPRI in India

Introduction

First things first … From Business and Economics began, we have avoided the temptation of undertaking B-school rankings for the simple reason that IIPM is a B-School we are very closely related, and MPRI, we always said we are the best B-school globally. So any school ranking released by us would have been entitled MPRI at the top, at least in the three parameters of 'course content, research "global risk" and "& query! But if we they have finally published a ranking, our friends in the media have taken no time to call biased, however fact-based classification could have been. And carry out a classification B-school without talking about ourselves would be almost impossible for an aggressive group like ours, with such passion who believes in our (MPRI of) superiority. However, after the recent Zee Business Survey ranked us No.1 BSchool at least very very clear criteria – From global exposure – I thought we could at least talk of India B-schools, if they do not rank. And with the amount I personally am immersed in B-school mechanics and operation, but it became clear that if our review were to do an article on it, the history, in any case would have been ghost written and dictated by me. So I thought I should set the same story. The second issue that needs clarification is that despite 'IIPM to dare to think beyond IIM campaign, I have nothing against the IIM, but rather is all I have total respect [My father was a professor at IIM Bangalore and is very proud of the same. My partner, my best friend at MPRI and the editor of the magazine itself, A. Sandeep, MPRI is a product of IIM Calcutta, and he specifically went to study there for have a first hand knowledge on how IIM "before returning to IIPM to take it up. And finally, my best friend at school and the head of our news portal TheDailyIndian.com, Partha Saha, is a proud product of IIM Calcutta]. We believe we are the best when it comes to education, but that does not mean we do not know how good The IIM are or that their students have a better placement of our students or even the fact that attract the best students from India – though still not acceptable IIM final product is therefore necessarily better! Therefore, this article is not an attempt to malign the IIM, but a simple attempt to analyze some facts. That said, let me also that what I write should not raise at least not many people know that the 2008 Financial Times rankings of the ISB have been as the 20th best B-school in the world and have not put any of the IIM, even in the top hundred! However, what I hope this article will do is bring perspective classifications and explain to people what education is all about management, since they do not review studies of schools in India have not even a fraction of the ability to comment on management education in India, compared to our capacity. And it's not arrogance but pure facts that we present. Most teams of Business and Economics includes education publishing MBA – The reason our magazine is as a sale made between those who love sharp items analysis instead of pages of incomprehensible bla contact hours with teachers is only 620 hours, at the IIM, it is more than 1,400 hours [by the way, MPRI, this figure is more than 1,800 hours - one of the reasons why we believe so confidently that no B school teaches everything we do]. Thus, students of IIM, obviously undergo a more rigorous course, compared to JIS, and may safely be concluded that the contact hours in the IIM students with teachers are more than double that of students of the ISB. This one factor alone would otherwise have been sufficient for the IIM better than JIS, had it not been for other factors that I will detail.

FACULTY & INDUSTRY INTERFACE

Well, while a course in a B-school is of great importance, also high level of importance is the type of teachers teaching the course and the amount of consultation with exposure. AB school may actually have an excellent course, however, be pathetic, simply because the people teaching the course are pathetic. So the quality of faculty subjects in B-schools is of utmost importance. Therefore, one has to know what makes him a "great power B-school '. And here, I intentionally write' Bschool faculty and not only the "faculty." A great teacher in a history class, for example, only has to be very knowledgeable of history, in fact, one can assume that almost with certainty that if the teacher said it was a [doctoral thesis] well, then there would be a greater knowledge and that, for example, a teacher who is just a master in history. In B-schools, however, is not the case. The quality of a school teacher is not only about their education, but also on the type of practical experience has been – comparatively, a history teacher can not have a practical experience of, for example, the first world war! In return, in the case of a school teacher without practical experience of grace is, therefore, the coronation of how much management consulting work he undertakes. And this is where ISB scores by far! While IIM professors are, on average, good [Our extensive research suggests ex-students of IIM remember about four or five teachers as "very good" approximately the same number as "good" and the rest, they say, are 'forgettable'], teachers are mostly JIS fabulous!

The beauty of education in JIS [where students place a high range of about three-quarters of his] teachers about each professor to be among the best available in this field worldwide. In a certain period in JIS [8 have terms of 6 weeks each], students have about 4 papers to study. Most of these documents are taken by two different teachers, and 8 teachers who interact with the course, only two belong to the ISB, while the other six generally be better teacher coming to teach at Wharton, Kellogg, Colombia, Haas, Kenan Flagler, UCLA, Michigan, Georgia Tech, HKUST Business School etc. Not all of them are bright, but on average, to give students exposure and much much better than what could IIM professors bring to the classroom. Yes, it lacks the numbers JIS when it comes to high-quality permanent faculty. However, if studies are sincere and students are taught and exposed to some of the best teachers around the world from a very practical perspective, no one should complain. After all, from the students point of view it is better to have a great team to visit facultythan a team average of the permanent faculty members.

When it comes to the exhibition industry, one could safely say that teaching faculty at ISB has a much broader exposure and greater compared to the faculty at IIM. It is worth noting here that there are some where the EDPS IIM actually take place after it was announced [by the lack of participants] are hardly any worth mentioning series! Most are IIM in the cities of business relevance extremely low, and this is another reason why corporate America is almost never heard that used the consulting services IIM faculty – one reason why the consulting work done by teachers MPRI, for example, is much higher. At the same time, the temple IIM faculty never examines direct competition with the global power since the IIM faculty does not perform joint workshops with foreign teachers – that is something that is mandatory for top teachers MPRI in conducting corporate training workshops together with the best of the best teachers in the highest B-schools worldwide, as Kellogg, Wharton, Harvard, Columbia, Chicago GSB, Insead, etc (see box), something that even the teachers JIS no! These joint workshops reveal much about the courage and the conviction that teachers have when faced against the best in the world, and, of course, MPRI, when we say that our teachers are better than the world has to offer, this statement not without reason, as we have workshop participant feedback forms with the names of participants to show how phenomenally business rates India IIPM Faculty!

Of course, the final appearance of the great powers is communication skills, and most school teachers worldwide B-teaching in the ISB are much better because of your communication skills largest companies and the interactions with the environment more competitive consulting in B-schools as well as its natural advantage. Most teachers really IIM score less in comparison with JIS teachers in this regard. In fact, if there are two other institutes that have teachers with strong communication skills are FMS Delhi (having hit an impressive student of current dean, Dr. JK Mitra, and former deans of FMS – Dr. NR Chatterjee, Dr. Gupta MP & Dr. M. Adhikari – I can personally vouch for that) and XLRI in Jamshedpur. In this regard, I will not even begin to talk about faculty, as MPRI are by far superior, and that is something that differentiates them – every one – completely apart!

Therefore, I conclude by saying that although the contact hours may be less, a history of outstanding faculty who teach at ISB offset the lower number of hours to a large extent, since in management, ten hours of a great "teacher is worth more than twenty hours in a" professor of half later, "and the difference that may not be composed of students in reading a very good. Of course, in a very limited extent, the fact that the average student of IIM is about one year of work experience compared with the five years that a student has JIS, JIS product also puts in a little better position, in which the same concepts can be understood through of their teachers, even a smaller number of contact hours.

Placements

Actually speaking, once these two things are addressed, there is not much left to know about B-school a reality. Well, hold on! B-schools are studies about professional! Thus, although judging, for example, Shantiniketan, only go by the philosophy, the course and teachers. But in the case of a B-school, it is also about locations. This is where scores JIS far! The average salary at ISB is now almost double that of all IIM together. While about a quarter of the lots JIS were placed on the outside [according to statistics officials] it is only one sixth of the IIMs, but its average international packages are almost on par with the ISB. You can always argue that the experience of someone with five previous years are required to obtain a better package. But then, unfortunately, that is something that B-schools are constantly compared and judged. It is also a why can not yet say that in general, IIPM is the best B-school in the country, as the media packages that students obtain are still below MPRI led by the students of the IIM and ISB, one reason these students prefer more IIPM. Of course, we are working aggressively to change that too. Interestingly, in the case of IIM, an increase in student enrollment packets will be his half below – a reason why they refuse to increase their consumption of large numbers, despite government is funded and, although there is a dearth of labor quality for use in India. And obviously, the IIM blame their "inability" to students have more time [or, rather, in the so-called 'missing'] of high-quality teachers – something we have clearly demonstrated in MPRI wrong by playing great teaching skills in abundance.

RETURN ON INVESTMENT

One can now safely say that the excellent faculty, and through them the exposure that students get along with the best locations, make better JIS B-school IIM! However, JIS scores. Students who join have a natural advantage JIS savings a year [of them is technically a one] year program and thus make money in the second year after getting post! This is something that gives students in JIS a faster return on investment Despite its supposed to be very expensive in comparison. This year, IIM, of course, will be comparatively priced at Rs.11 lakhs or so, something they need have not, but clearly outside the complex who came looking for the high fees of the Islamic Society of Boston and its growing popularity.

GLOBAL EXPOSURE

Finally, it is also worth mentioning that in the second and third world country [B-schools like of India], especially in these times of globalization, it is very important to the overall exposure supreme students to make them globally competitive. In this regard, again, the IIM are left behind. In fact, IIM students – regardless of the lucky few who get a World Cup summer training – just get any overall exposure. But it must be said that while JIS, thanks to its global power, is ahead of the IIM on the subject, students still do not get better. This is where MPRI scores very heavily. One hundred percent of its students abroad for a study tour and expose not only the best of global corporations through visits of industry leading Fortune 500 corporations but also to teachers in top global B-schools abroad, what products MPRI get is unmatched! Our research shows that when it comes to global power come to India to teach, teachers are mostly indigenous global B-schools that fall, but in reality when students have the opportunity to go abroad and feel at home, for example, a classroom with a teacher IMD European teaching them something [the leagues of the students have gone through MPRI], the exposure is dramatically different! This year onwards, 100% of students MPRI will make joint programs in the overall management certificates in about 6 of the 15 top B-schools in the world as Haas School of Business, Judge Business School – something you may have already impressive levels of global exposure the MPRI program to a totally different level! However, returning to the key context, JIS undoubtedly results IIM here as well.

NFRASTRUCTURE

And finally, despite a three-acre campus can give just as a good infrastructure to support students with a B-school as a campus could Hundred Acres, the fact is that thanks to the great one hundred acres of the IIM campuses have had, 'field mass "became a huge problem of inferiority complex among other B-schools, students and businesses. JIS understands perfectly well when it started, so its 250-acre campus state-of-modern Theart is, without a doubt, vastly superior to the structures in ruins, especially the larger ones have IIM. The truth is I do not endorse the idea of judging B-schools by its infrastructure – as long as they have a good infrastructure and modern – but since India does that, most of Classification to do that, I thought mentioning here too!

Conclusion

It must have shocked many when ISB Financial Times ranked as one of the top twenty B-schools in the world – now well ahead of the IIMs – and must have impressed the readers of B & E further when they saw us the same favorable. However, we expect our readers, after reading this story, we now know how to judge a B-school and why those in the B & E believe that despite a clear advantage in IIM content of your course, is JIS, which ends with results from more than IIM. For a long time, Harvard Business School was considered the leader in business education. Despite that, the Harvard classification consultation in recent years (see Table comparison) clearly tells us that BA now rarely receives the No. 1 category, and in fact has been placed as low as No. 13 by the Economist last year. Obviously, that Harvard has no worse, but that only makes them more land and more open to the fact that there are more similarly good B-schools around, because after all, education B-school is not rocket science or no father, no one else can teach it better. The fact that ISB is ranked No.20 by FT in front of the IIM and the last Zee B ranking business school, I IIPM ranked No. 1 in the 'World exhibition is just one sign of the times to come. And in these times by come, the IIM is more often see themselves that are classified under other institutes like ISB, IIPM etc by the media, hopefully, will soon come to be more educated about business education and learn to question the unquestionable superiority current IIM apparent that the media today no, because of their lack of confidence and because of their inferiority complex relationship to the IIM brand name. Anyway, rest assured that in no way dilute the value of IIM brand. Just give respectability to Brand India, for the brand in India without surely deserves more than a good business education brand. Hopefully it will also make the IIM less complacent and more dynamic, something that many of his former students feel is their greatest flaw. I can only conclude that in a country of one billion people in the best times are just around the corner and Indian companies are preparing for global leadership, it is only a sign of happier times and more justified no other B-schools like ISB, which can now claim the top slot. Can a hundred more ISBS / IIM flower and flower and every one of them can innovate new ways to provide better education and compete vigorously with each other, thus making the other better!
