unemployment line cartoon
What does this political cartoon means?

I have this story that I have to explain, but I do not understand. that has a lot of people lined up in front of the unemployment office and the office door that says it has closed a day's work happy. IM not sure how im supposed to explain details of that cartoon

This cartoon is all about irony. Labor Day was first introduced as a holiday for American workers to demonstrate that they are appreciated for everything they do. Before, when I started, people work six days a week. The joke is that the people waiting in line do not have a job, that's why we are on the line. How can they have a labor day celebration happy when all these are workers who are only want to be? Get it? I guess that's his explanation can discuss the origins of the workday, and also discuss the unemployment rate of today's society. How would you feel if someone takes the day off and could not help because she had a job and you did not?
