unemployment percentage during the great depression

Why is the current rate of unemployment compared with that of the Great Depression?
In the U.S., today's unemployment figures are low where they are receiving unemployment compensation. During the Great Depression there was no unemployment compensation. What is the actual rate of unemployment? Why do they insist on confusing the American public as well as global investors? Is this practice the same in other nations?
I do not know if you were around in the early eighties, but brilliant method of Ron Reagan to deal with unemployment shot was just changing the way data was reported. I remember well how he was unemployed for a week and the following week and was not, however, I had not gotten a job, just dropped out of the report. the number of unemployed in this country (the real numbers) at least three times that (and that have been reported in 1979). this is a major reason why the figures are throwing out there, it looks great compared to the numbers of days of depression. as you mention, there is no real comparison. However, if the government broadcasting in high numbers … adolescents is the propaganda began.
